We have seven (7) Sundays on our journey to the Cross of Calvary. I pray this is a life changing journey culminating in a true celebration of the Resurrection of Christ on the eighth (8th) Sunday. My hope is that every member of Town East Baptist Church will make attending church their greatest priority over the next eight (8) weeks. I understand some already have travel plans during this time frame and some will be truly sick or homebound, but some just find excuses to stay home instead of attending church. Not only do I hope that every member makes church attendance a priority for themselves but I pray that each member will invite others to attend that they can hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ during our eight week journey. What will you do?
Sincerely,
Bro. Bobby

Our TEBC Youth Group will host the annual Valentine Banquet on Sunday evening February 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Garrett will bring our music program and we will of course have a fantastic meal. Proceeds and tips from the Banquet assist our Youth with their 2010 events and activities. God bless you and thank you in advance for your attendance and donations.

God bless you and the great response taking place in America and around the world to send aid to Haiti. So many people are speculating as to the “why” behind this disaster, but I am here to say that it’s not about the “why” it’s about the “recovery.” Let us all be in deep prayer for the people of Haiti and for those bringing relief to them. Let us be in prayer for our Missionaries and so many others who are currently on the ground in Haiti sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May God somehow get the glory amidst this extreme hardship.
In prayer,

We are well underway with our 212 degree growth strategy for 2010. The strategy plan being outlined by Bro. Kyle Felts on Sunday nights is outstanding.
If most of our members become serious about “turning up the heat” in their own discipleship process the church will have an outstanding year for the Lord our God. If part do, then the church will have a partially good year. If few do, then we will have a very poor year as a church. Personally I will not allow myself to have a poor year for the Lord, so please understand when I say, “TEBC will not have a poor year for the Lord under my watch!”
As Pastor I am personally and directly responsible to the Lord in regards to TEBC, and I will do everything in my power to present Him a glorious church with which He can be proud. My hope is that the majority of our members will assist the staff and me in this process. May God bless you and keep you as you decide how teachable you will be and how often you will attend church this year.

We have forever left behind the single digit ending for our 21st Century years. 2010 is now upon us and we must decide what to do with it. As a church we have deemed the year to be the year of 212 degrees. Water does not boil at 211 degrees but it does at 212.
We have no desire as a church to be lukewarm for Christ, so we are turning up the heat. If our cup is full and we heat to a boil we can’t help but bubble up and run over. Our lives can positively impact those around us if we open up and allow Christ the opportunity to use us as He sees fit. May God richly bless you and yours this double digit year.

The wonder of God’s majesty always keeps me in awe. Imagine with me for a moment a world that is not “color blind” but one that is “color full.” What exactly do I mean? You see, we speak often about how we wish the world was “color blind” so we would be fully accepting of one another. I submit to you that it would be far better for our world to become “color full.” “Color full” would encourage us all to celebrate the fact that God has created vast shades of color in the human race. Think about it this way. Many who are milky light would like to get and keep a tan, others who are very dark at times desire to lighten up, and most of those inbetween would like to be a different shade of color than they are right now. Because most human beings are not content in our own skin we tend to be unaccepting of those who are most different from us. The only answer for true acceptance is to see everybody with the eyes of Jesus.
Therefore, God has continually placed a personal and corporate ministry statement upon my heart that is steadily being implemented. This statement is simply “Capturing the Culture of Christ.” In “Capturing the Culture of Christ” you and I are released from catering to the ideas of any particular culture or race and can concentrate on molding and shaping a completely new culture where Christ is the center piece.
Just look around and you will see that church is still very much divided and often very segregated. Some churches complain about how they just don’t understand other cultures so they can’t reach them. Others moan and groan about how people should become like them in order to fit in. Still some will comment that they don’t want “them” to “take over our church.”
How do we at TEBC get beyond all of this? The only way I know of is through the Love of Jesus and our complete obedience unto God. Rather than accepting the ways, traditions, and patterns of every culture and attempting to implement that into the church we must look to the Scriptures and implement God’s Word creating the Culture of Christ in His House and in His people.
Capturing the Culture of Christ,
Bro. Bobby
