January 2012! We had a very good turnout for the “Reveal Meeting.” Now, let me highlight some things from the meeting:

The Sunday Morning Service Time is 10:07 a.m. based upon John 10:7.
The Youth and Children begin a new JaM Session on Sundays Nights at 6:20 followed by “Break Out” sessions.
We will discuss and vote on authorization for building construction and repair needs during the Business Meeting this month on January 29.
New Teams are being formed to complete necessary tasks assigned: Future Team, Maintenance Team, Construction Team, and Grounds Team.
We need a leader for our Prayer Ministry.
Our discipleship classes must raise the bar to include “knowing, growing and going.” Receiving knowledge is good but we must also do something with it.
We need a leader for our Hospital and Shut-in Visitation Ministry.
Our process of “making disciples” will revolve around a Baseball Field diagram. Please attend and listen intently to the sermons over the next few weeks for details.

The entire presentation from Wednesday is on the church website. Please refer to it often throughout this year. We may stumble and fall in the midst of this journey, but God will always be there to pick us up and set us back on track. Are you ready and willing to participate? Time will tell. Those called by God to fill the volunteer positions above please contact me as soon as possible so we can get started.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good, so let us be unafraid to delve into 2012 as we embark on the next 50 years.

2012 and TEBC

2012 iExpectations
iPad…iPhone…iPod…I Email…I Post…I Tweet…I Facebook…I Chat…etc…etc…etc…
We live in an iWorld and way too often we are “I” focused. People seem content to flounder living “I-god” lives, rather than flourish in a “God-i” existence. The purpose of our 2012 emphasis, we are calling it “iREAD,” is to keep the “i” of us little and the “G” of God supreme! Let it be so at Town East Baptist Church.

Two Steps and More

Doing God’s Will is much easier said than done. If this were not true the church in America would be full to capacity every week. So, what action steps can we take? Glad you asked.

Our first step is to know that attack will come as we seek to obey God. However, as we resist the devil he must flee from us. Therefore, let us not focus our attention on the one who attacks but rather on the One who sets us free. Our second step, and so on, is to continually make discovery of God’s Will and do it. Not to talk about doing God’s Will but to actually get involved and do it. It’s not easy to do but it is doable. The church in America could be absolutely fantanstic but she has constantly retreated into complacency when attacked and I say, “No more!” Are you with me?

Walk the Isle

Many, many changes are on the horizon in preparation for 2012. No, not the end of the world (unless God says so of course), but the beginning of a tremendous new journey for TEBC. Mark your calendars now to attend TEBC on January 4 and September 16, 2012. More to come later…

Okay, okay I’ll give you a little hint: “Our entire format for how “we do church” will be refreshed, revitalized and revealed on January 4, 2012. Trust me you will not want to miss this! What about September 16th? Well, you’ll have to wait on that one.

I believe the TEBC part of the Bride of Christ is ready to “walk the isle” with our Lord. We have arrived and made ourselves ready. We’ve been in the holding room anxiously awaiting our call, and now with a song in our heart and a skip in our step let’s get ready to go!

Share Your Faith

This week we take a look at “Share” in our 7 x 7 plan. Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is not just something each Christian should do, it is absolutely essential. As a matter of fact sharing our faith in Christ is our number one “call of duty” as Christians. The first century Christian would be appalled by the number of Christians today who hide their faith rather than share it. Unlike today sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost was a staple in the first century church. Today much of Christendom has deemed witnessing as something to constantly learn, tweak, and teach rather than do. It has been relegated to a discipleship class for the avid student rather than elevated to a matter of “life and death” for all of mankind. Our own Salvation should compel us to share with others.

Why do so many Christians stop short of sharing? Why has sharing the truth of Salvation become a “back burner” topic for so many? Why is fear, instead of faith, winning in so many Christian homes?

“Pastor aren’t there many topics for discussion in the Bible?” Yes, and they all begin with this truth, “you must be born again!”

You and I truly understand precious little about God. I know this because of our many flawed attitudes toward Him. Think about the following for a little bit and I believe you will get where I’m coming from.

At times we see God as someone we can manipulate through “let’s make a deal” kind of prayers, and at other times we see God as our “Genie in the bottle” in making our wish list known to Him. Unfortunately we also see God as some kind of “ATM” machine in which we place our prayers and instant blessings spring forth, and maybe the greatest flaw of all is when we see God as someone who only exists to please and serve us. Who do we think we are?

“God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe who has provided humankind with a revelation of Himself through the natural world and through His Son, Jesus Christ.” God is Spirit; God is Changeless; God is All-Powerful; God is All-Knowing; God is Everywhere; God is Eternal; God is Holy; God is Righteous; God is Love; God is Truth; and God is Wisdom.

This only gets us started, so how about some more? God is Jehovah/Yahweh (He is the I Am), Jehovah-jireh (The Lord Will Provide), Jehovah-nissi (The Lord Is My Banner), Jehovah-shalom (The Lord Is Peace), Jehovah-shammah (The Lord Is There), Jehovah-tsebaoth (The Lord of hosts), Jehovah Elohe Yisrael (The Lord God of Israel), so ultimately He is according to Exodus 3:14, “I AM WHO I AM.” Additionally Scripture reveals that God is Elohim (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit); God is the Branch of Righteousness; God is King; God is Shepherd; and God is Glory. What you have just read is far from exhaustive but I believe it makes my point.

The more we search God’s Word, The Holy Bible, the more we understand about God, but truly knowing Him only comes through a personal and real relationship with His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. Do you know Him today? Does He dwell within you today? Is He your Master today? Are you led by The Holy Spirit of God today?
